Major Benson Payne is a man who is well aware that the Army would never have been engaged in an act of war. Fixed with discipline and a rigid military mentality is the bugbear of the whole army. When a group arrives in the barracks for recruits Benson is looking forward to putting it right by putting into practice his teachings.
The play was produced by Damon Wayans and co-writer who thought of bringing to the screen "The Private War of Major Benson," directed by Jerry Hopper in 1955. The attempt failed.
